Marble Cake

Ingredients
  • All purpose flour(Maida) - 1 1/2 cup
  • Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Eggs - 2 nos
  • Sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Melted butter - 3/4 cup
  • Salt - A pinch
  • Milkmaid - 4 tbsp(optional)
  • Vanilla essence - 1/4 tsp
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
  • Cocoa powder - 3 tbsp
  • Milk - as required

Preparation Method

  1. Beat the eggs using a hand held electric mixer in a large bowl. (Use glass bowl for more soft cake)
  2. Add sugar, butter and milk maid and mix at the lowest speed again for a few mins.
  3. Mix together maida, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add maida little by little to the bowl and mix at a medium speed for 5 mins.
  5. Add essence, lemon juice and cardamom and mix for 1 more min. (Add milk, if required, to attain the ribbon like consistency).
  6. Take 1/3 of the batter into a separate bowl and add cocoa powder to the batter and mix with a spoon.
  7. Preheat oven to 350 degree F (180 degree Celsius).
  8. Pour 5 - 6 spoons of the plain batter into a greased baking tray as a layer. 
  9. Add the 3 - 4 spoons of batter mixed with cocoa powder on the sides and on the top of the layer.
  10. Pour the remaining plain batter to the tray. 
  11. On the top add the rest of the batter mixed with cocoa powder.
  12. Move a fork in zig-zag way on the top of the batter.
  13. Bake in oven for 30-35 mins at 350 degree F(180 degree Celsius).
  14. Prick with a sharp knife and it should come out clean, if done; otherwise cook for another 5-10 mins:
  15. Cut the Marble Cake with a sharp knife and serve.

Add the spice powder and fried coconut along with ghee; mix well and remove from flame and allow to cool. Enjoy the sweet and warm Pachor. Note: You can use any rice, I used the matta (brown) rice.

Bangalore, India to Dublin, Ireland amidst Covid-19

We, (myself, my husband, and our ten years old daughter), travelled from Bangalore to Dublin through Paris on 13th August 2020, as my husband got an employment offer from Ireland. Chocolate and Vanilla - Caramel Cake

Chocolate and Vanilla - Caramel Cake is made by me as per the request of my daughter for her birthday. As I prepared it for birthday party, the cake was weighing around 2.5Kg. You can half the ingredients and make it as small cake. Caramel Syrup Ingredients Sugar - 1 cup Butter - 1 tbsp Hot Water - 1/4 cup Preparation Method Add sugar to a wide bottom thick pan and spread evenly. Keep the flame medium and cook till the sugar start to melt and the color changes to golden brown. Reduce flame to low, add butter and mix well. Slowly pour in the hot water, mix well and make sure that there is no sugar crystals; remove from flame and keep aside to cool down.
